David Smith
David is an entrepreneur with a background in professional publishing and web development. His current venture, Open Music Networks, is building a collaboration tool to help musicians share and manage their intellectual property in the cloud. Previously, he held senior product and business development positions at the Thomson Corporation. At Thomson Financial (Europe), he led new product initiatives and was responsible for acquisition targeting and due diligence. After Thomson, David served as a board director and adviser at an online publishing startup, Mergermarket, which was sold to Pearson plc for $190 million in 2006.
In his early career, David worked in radio and film. In the late 1980s, he became a commissioning editor at Euromoney Institutional Investor. He later formed a company in The Hague, which published the first European cross-border treatise on environmental regulations.
